Entrance Hall, Eardley Road

Project: Entrance hall renovation. Year: 2021

Tom had been living in his flat for 3 years when he decided to renovate the entrance hall.

”I had ignored my hallway for a while and focused on other rooms in my flat. I wanted to create an atmospheric hallway making a bold statement when people walk into my flat.”

We had already worked on his kitchen so Tom asked us back for this quirky project.

Tom wanted dark paint on all surfaces including the ceiling and light fittings, as he explains,

“ I feel like people are obsessed with small spaces having to be white to keep them light but if a space is small and dark why not embrace it? This is why I wanted more lighting installed though. In the daytime I can add light if needed and then in the evening I can have more atmospheric lighting (with dimmable lights).”

“I wanted texture on the bottom half of the wall so myself and Tijs discussed options and I went with wood panelling. I sourced and was quite specific about the paint colour (Farrow and Ball - Railings). I also sourced the doors, reeded glass effect sheeting which is stuck onto the glass and wall lights.

Tijs and his team are great if you need to discuss your idea and work out the best way to achieve what you want.”

Tom was working away when some elements were fitted so Tijs had to return to make some changes when he got back but Tom is very happy with the result.

“I just love the whole mood that's been created. I think it's bold and a real statement, every time I walk in it makes me smile and appreciate how different it is to most hallways.”

“I love working with Tijs, he's forgiving when I don't have a clue about certain parts of craftsmanship, as are his team. He very much gets involved with your idea from conception and makes it happen. And you come away knowing all the work done is high quality.”
